PAPER SEEDS Seeds of ART and THOUGHT

Come on in... relax, kick off your shoes, and get cozy for a few minutes. I intend this space to be a happy and encouraging spot in your day where perhaps you'll sign off feeling better than you did when you signed on.

I have so much in life that I want to create, experience, and wrap my head around, and I bet you do too. I dedicate this space as a safe place to "grow" our seeds... Seeds of movement to increase our joy, inspiration, and insight - Seeds of change and evolution of our souls - Seeds of of celebration and creativity - a place where we thrive to live lives we're proud of.

How cool is it that we are given the opportunity to create a future that doesn't exist yet. That we have the choice in creating our lives and planting seeds that will grow into our dreams. I want to learn more everyday about how to do this in my life, and I would love for you to join me.

Phoenix Rising

The Phoenix
by Rebecca Wiles

Beautiful , glorious and sacrificing self for renewal,
you build a pyre and set yourself ablaze.
For the sake of self.
Red bird of fire come forth through your ashes a new bird
shedding the old self which no longer is needful.
You embrace your new strength and fly to new heights of the sky
to the city of the sun and give the ashes
unto the alter of the sun god for your immortality.
Embrace yourself for you are a child of the sun
and will live eternal through birth, death, and renewal.
The spirit never dies!

Heart Sentiments

"We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness
is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love."

Get Some Clay... TODAY! Art Therapy Time!

A recent suggestion from a friend (thanks, Elizabeth) prompted me to open my eyes to the world of art therapy.  I love research more than the average Joe, so I didn't mind a bit diving right into some fun books on art therapy over the last few weeks and soaking in as much as I could ... and after learning more about the many modalities of art therapy, I'm excited about it.  Not that I want to go out and get my art therapy degree... I just want to incorporate some of it into my life and see what it might teach me.

Photo Walk on a Sunday Afternoon

Easy like Sunday morning... well, Sunday afternoon actually.  That's what today's walk around our neighborhood was... easy and nice.  It was an absolutely gorgeous day here in Summerville, SC, so my son and I took advantage of it and went on a "photo walk" around our new neighborhood to see what we could get into.

Allowing Instead of Trying - Letting Go This Year

Happy Day to you!  I hope you have been warm enough this week.  I am so ready for the thermometer to rise just a few degrees!  Last week I talked about words.  Some words are disempowering and others are empowering.  And by using the empowering words we can sharpen and clarify our intentions.

Living Our Words

Original Paper Collage from my "Word Bird" Series

I absolutely love words.  I like speaking them, thinking them, writing them, reading them, dreaming them, creating art with them... and living them.  "Living them?" you ask.  Yes, I say living them.  What I mean by this is that words are powerful tools that can clarify, ground, connect, and direct our lives, and the words that we choose make a difference in our lives.  Without words, we'd either shrivel up and die of boredom, or we might just evolve like the Aboriginal Real People who use mental telepathy, (which you can read about here.)  It could go either way I suppose, but for the sake of the blog, let's pretend that without words, we'd all go insane...

Compared to Nomadic Aboriginals, I'm a Mutant!

So, I've been out of commission the last few weeks because my family and I have been moving to a new home!  Who moves two days after Christmas?  We do!  And if you've moved before, you know what I'm talking about...
